Lindfield Blocked Stormwater, Done Properly

1000+ five-star reviews

Stormwater is rainwater, not sewage, and it moves through its own separate system of pits, gullies and pipes running off to the street.

When that system backs up, water has nowhere to go but across your yard or against your house.

Blocked Stormwater: What We Actually Do

Stormwater work covers everything that moves rainwater off your block and away from the house.

Gully and pit clearing. Leaves, silt and grit build up in surface gullies and stormwater pits until water simply stops draining.

Ag-line and sub-surface drain jetting. Buried agricultural drains around footings and retaining walls get root-cut or silted just like any other pipe.

Downpipe-to-drain connections. Where a downpipe ties into the underground system, blockages at that join back water straight up the pipe.

Overland flow paths. Some overflow is the drain doing exactly what it's designed to do under extreme rain, not a fault we can fix by blaming the pipe.

Root intrusion in stormwater lines. Tree roots don't only target sewer pipes; stormwater lines running near established trees get the same treatment.

Box gutter and roof drainage handover. Where an overflowing box gutter is actually a roofing fault rather than a blocked drain, we'll say so and point you the right way; where it's the drain side backing up under a valid roof system, that's ours to clear.

Six Signs Your Drains Are Asking for Blocked Stormwater

  • Water pools near the house during or after rain
  • A gully or grated pit overflows onto the path or lawn
  • A downpipe backs up instead of running clear
  • Damp patches appear along a retaining wall after storms
  • Water surfaces from the ground well away from any visible pipe
  • The same wet spot reappears after every heavy downpour

If sewage rather than rainwater is surfacing, that points to blocked sewer instead, a different system entirely. Knowing which one you're dealing with matters, because the fix, the responsible party and the urgency all differ between the two.

Why Lindfield Properties Call For This

Lindfield sits along a ridge, with the land falling away into steep valleys on either side of the Pacific Highway.

That slope means stormwater lines run on grades rather than flat ground, and grade changes are exactly where debris likes to collect at pipe junctions.

Add the suburb's heavy tree canopy shedding leaves each autumn, and those junctions silt up faster here than on flatter ground.

A pit near the ridge line clears easily enough on its own most of the time; it's the junctions further down the fall that carry the load and clog first.

Summer storms make the pattern obvious. A downpour that would soak into flat ground somewhere else instead races down Lindfield's slopes, and everything the canopy has shed since the last clean gets carried straight into the nearest pit.

What Your Blocked Stormwater Quote Depends On

A handful of factors decide what a stormwater job costs, each one talked through with you on the spot.

  • How far the blockage sits from the nearest pit or access point
  • Silt and leaf build-up versus a root intrusion needing cutting
  • Number of pits or gullies affected on the property
  • Access along the fall line, particularly where paving sits over a buried run
  • Whether it's a single clear or a full jet clean of the run

On a ridge property, that access-along-the-fall factor tends to matter more than elsewhere. A line running down a steep side yard under pavers takes longer to reach and jet than an open surface pit, and that gets scoped into the quote up front.

Autumn leaf-fall adds a seasonal wrinkle too. A property under heavy canopy can need a straightforward clean-out one visit and a full root-cut jet the next, depending purely on what's built up since the last storm.

Either way, the model holds: nothing to show up, nothing for the quote, one figure locked in before we start work. The $50 online-booking offer and the 10% seniors discount are both on the table.

The Process, and What It Typically Takes

1. Locate the blockage. Camera and locator work find exactly where the silt, roots or debris are sitting in the run.

2. Confirm the fix. Most gully and pit clears are straightforward; longer runs choked with roots need a proper jet clean.

3. Jet clean or clear. High-pressure water clears the line without digging, in most cases finished the same visit.

4. Check the flow. We run water through after to confirm it drains properly before we call the job done.

What NSW Requires for Blocked Stormwater

Private stormwater drains on your block, right up to where they connect to the street system, are your responsibility to maintain.

Council owns the pits and pipes under the road, so a blockage further down than your boundary is a council matter, not something we're able to touch.

Clearing and jetting stormwater lines is licensed plumbing work in NSW, covered under our licence #275278C on every job.

Ku-ring-gai Council manages the stormwater assets under the road reserve. Where a property backs onto a bushland easement, which is common on Lindfield's ridge streets, additional council approval can apply to any works near that boundary.

Servicing Nearby Homes Too

We clear blocked stormwater right across Lindfield and out to Roseville, Killara, Chatswood, Gordon and Forestville.

If a stormwater clear turns up a cracked pipe rather than just debris, blocked drain repair picks up from there.

Prefer to know first what's actually going on down there? A drain camera survey maps the whole run before we recommend anything.

Common questions

Common Blocked Stormwater FAQs

How do I prepare before you arrive?

Point us to the gully, pit or downpipe that's overflowing if you can see it, and keep clear of any pooled water near the house.

What are the signs I need blocked stormwater cleared?

Water pooling near the house in rain, a gully overflowing onto paving, or a downpipe backing up instead of draining away.

How long does blocked stormwater take?

Most single-pit or gully clears wrap up within the hour. A longer run choked with roots or silt can take more time to jet clean properly.

Who is responsible if the blockage is in the sewer main?

Stormwater and sewer are different systems entirely. If sewage itself is surfacing at the street and neighbours are affected too, that's a mains fault for the water authority, not the stormwater line we're clearing.

Can I try to clear it myself first?

Scooping leaves and grit off a grate is a job any homeowner can do. Once the blockage sits underground, it needs a jetter and a camera to sort properly.

What warranty comes with blocked stormwater?

Our lifetime labour warranty applies here too. If the clear doesn't hold, we come back and fix it properly, no charge.
